Interesting..... I never heard of this Uship thing.... I wish I had.... I had a couple of engines shipped and I also had quotes on three different Daewoo's ( one Lanos from Hamilton... which I shipped via SeaRail.... and I purchased Lanos2001's Lanos... but in the end I couldn't get down there to pick it up and he eventually changed his mind and wanted to buy it back..... the last was a Leganza from Florida.... shipping was going to be around $2K to montana and then I'd have to drive down and pick it up )
With respect to engines.....some times you can find someone doing a "dead head" where they are from your area but only have freight going one way.
So lets say for example you found a trucker who was paid to hotshot a load of steel products from Colorado to Chicago.
Who ever paid for the shipping paid for his trip there and back..... so his trip back is "free"
So if you offer him a couple hundred bucks to load it on his truck and bring it back with him it's free cash in the pocket.
The hard part is figuring a way out to ship from Nova Scotia to Chicago (or whereever)
The best thing is if you have a friend at the location of the end shipment..... so you send the motor from Nova Scotia to your friend and your friend ensures it gets loaded onto the returning freight truck.
Usually you can find these guys on Ebay...... just type in freight, Nova Scotia and Colorado and you might get lucky and find a guy.
Sometimes this is a cheap way to go...... but you allways have to worry about whether the trucker will ensure your engine doesn't get damaged or stolen.... and that he doesn't arrive and say "oh well $200 was an estimate... it actually cost $500 due to higher than expected fuel costs"
Overall..... $810 USD is not that bad considering the huge distance between Colorado and Nova Scotia.... it's 2700 miles.... and about 40 hours of driving
So if you paid someone to drive from Colorado to Nova Scotia, pick up the engine and come back.... odds are it would cost about $800 in gas and maintinence (oil change) alone.
Imagine paying someone $15 an hour to do the trip... that would be another $1200 worth of labour and then there is food and lodging... which would probably be another $1000.
So odds going there and coming back would cost about $3000 plus customs and duty charges.

The site hasn't worked for me for the past few days. . . I plug in the zip codes and whatnot then it takes me to the "Category Information" page, when I click on anything in the box it won't allow me to go on and says there's an error on the page.
