Code Reader Question

I want to buy a code reader for my woo.
I saw one today in Wal-mart for $70.00
It's hand held and sez its for all Asian vehicle's with OBD 2
I want one that works for the Daewoo and my wife's Hyundai.
Anyone ever use this wal-mart one? If yes? how was it ?
What brand code reader do you recommend ?
Hopefully I won't have to use it, but if I do get a "CEL" I want to be able to diagnose it. $70.00 (usd) seems high. Or is this the going price ?

why get a code reader? why not just go to autozone and have them scan it for free? thats alot cheaper than $70.

OBD II is OBD II, if the car is post 1996 and not a VW/Audi, it'll have the right plug.

$70 is a good price. You can get them for as little as $35 or less on Ebay, and you can also get $1500 full Daewoo diagnostic computers.

They're useful if you do a lot of car work. But considering how often your car throws a CEL, wouldn't it make more sense just to go down to the local Autozone/Advance Auto Parts and get them to scan it for free?

Yes, it does make more since to go to AutoZone etc,
And if I lived closer to one and had a "CEL" ? I would do that.

But I'm out here where the jack-rabbits carry canteens and it's 100 miles to the closest town !
Just the thought of looking at a lit up "CEL" all that way, by the time I got there, would either be the end of my woo's engine
or worry me to death.

Living out here forces me to buy tools that I may never need.
And ?......... I like tools.

If I had to buy this scanner I would go to Wall-mart with both cars and try the reader on the parking. So I can have a immediate refund if not working like advertised.
