How to check whether my second hand ride come with ABS?

get on a straight empty road... pick up some speed... bout 30 mph... then slam on the brakes. and push down the pedal as far as it'll go. if the ABS works, then well obv. you hav ABS. if the car slides you dont. thats how i found out. cos i was told the car had ABS, so i did a lil test at 30 mph... and the car just slid.

check or an ABS indicator on the dash when you turn the key to ON position

yeah there's that aswell... mine has an ABS light... which comes on before engine start for a split second, and when the wheels lock up under braking.

did u try slamming on the brakes down an empty road? or did u just check whether there's a dash-light or not?

either way... even if a lanos said it has ABS... it wont work. like with mine. even some tech-specs show that it has ABS... but it doesnt.

Nothing personal but your ABS "test" is not a safe way to find out if a car has ABS.

Not everyone can handle a skid.
Different road surfaces, under or over inflated tires, worn tires and or weather conditions could cause an accident.

Roll-over's can happen at slower speeds than 30 mph. And they happen in nano-seconds.

I had a good friend that died in a skid induced crash while driving across an ice covered bridge.
His crash speed was estimated by police to be at 15 mph.

Yes, $hit does happen.

Look underneath the hood, the ABS pump will be on the passengers side of the engine bay (left or right hand drive, doesn't matter) it will be mounted on the firewall hand have hardened steel tube coming out of it leading to the master cylinder. It will list it in your manual if you don't know what I'm talking about. If no pump, no ABS.

Please don't lock up your brakes unless you have to, not worth it for the tires, rotors, pads, car, and mainly you.

according to http://www.carfolio.com the Lanos does not have ABS, which isnt realy a surprise.
