SOLD MY OPTRA 5 !!!!!
yes.... you heard it right.... my Optra 5 is sold with just 30,000 km on it.
I ended up selling it to my friend.... who bought my 2002 Lanos off me 3 years ago.
The up side is that I took her Lanos in on trade on my Optra 5....... so I've aquired a second Lanos.... this one only has 75,000km on it ( sold it to her with 12,000km on it )
So..... what's the plan you all may ask????
Well..... the general plan is for me to use the newly aquired Lanos as my "winter car"
Sometime in the next month or two I will be getting either a Saturn Sky Redline (AKA Opel GT with 260hp turbo 2.0L aluminum ecotec ) or a Mazdaspeed3
I recently bought my wife a fully loaded Mazda CX7 with the Mazda MZR turbo 2.3L and I found out I can order Cosworth race components (same used in the Champ car series)
So.... I could simply have Cosworth assemble a "race prepared" engine for my Mazdaspeed3.... which would come in around 550hp with options to upgrade as high as 1000hp
Alternatively I could stay with Opel and go with the Sky Redline.... as that is also a very potent vehicle.
The Mazdaspeed3 has a limited slip but it's front wheel drive where as the Sky Redline is rear wheel drive.... which makes drifting a posibility.
So.... it's not like I'm leaving.... technically I still own four Daewoo/Opel vehicles ( two Lanos.... two Passport Optima/Astra MK2)
In the end.... I have to worry about insurance.... and insuring the Optra after replacing the engine, tranny, suspension would have cost me about $1000 a month.
With the Sky redline and Mazdaspeed3 I can hide the fact that I've modified the car..... since they are allready turbocharged engines.
I'm still working on my Passport Optima GSi....... the turbo is ready to go in.... it's just a matter of wiring up the boost controller and piggyback SAFC.
I have officially hired a new Electronics Eng. Tech. on at my shop..... he will work on designs for my manufacturing company as well as Precision Boost Systems.
Unfortunatly my life is too busy for me to do the hands on design myself..... but with this newbie I should have a great assistant to bring my work to life.
I do have one last bit of news........ my wife is due to have a baby girl in exactly one week..... so I might drop off the board for a while until our new kid starts to sleep through the night.

Can't go wrong with the sky or mazdaspeed...both are some of the most popular cars for the racers around here.

We are going to name her Rebeca.... our first kid (who is 5 ) is Emily.
Good thing about having another girl is the fact that we allready have tons of girl toys and clothes.... and I know what to expect having another girl.
News on my quest for a new "fun to drive" daily driver...... I went to saturn and the Sky redline currently has a 10 month waiting list.
So... I dropped by my local mazda dealership and it just so happens that they have a black Mazdaspeed3 sitting at port ready for transport here.
Given black is the color I wanted and the manager said that nobody would be getting more Mazdaspeed3's this year I put down a down payment
It was fate or something..... both my salesman and the manager said that every single Speed3 they've sold this year has been "presold" so this was the first one that was going to arrive without an owner.
The odd thing is that he said this is the last production run for the Speed3 and they won't be making any more next year to increase the value of the Speed3.
I didn't find anything on the net about this being the last production run.... but I know mazda did it before with some of their other cars such as the Protege MP3
Anyways..... fun fun.... 263hp 280lbft with a mechanical LSD and 6speed gearbox.

My wife gave birth (or should I say had emegency surgery) on Wednesday night.
Both my wife and baby daughter are good..... both came home today.... thankfully no problems.
So now the worrying is over and the sleepless nights start.

One side note...... the MZR engine in the Speed3 is a ford duratec block..... Cosworth uses this exact engine in Champ Car racing.
The cool thing is that you can order all these parts from Cosworth...... so you can easily manage 450whp.... and most of their components are rated up into the 1000hp range.
The 6 speed tranny is also nice and strong...... lots of guys out there using the ATP turbo upgrade kit and running 350whp to 450whp (depending on which kit they get )
I think it will definitly be a fun car.... and it should be able to keep up with Tom's Astra MK2 if I drop in a few modifications (since his car is way lighter)
