I translated some of your site into english and there seems to be a number of products which would be interesting to us north american Daewoo owners.

I have a Chevrolet Optra 5 which is a Lacetti Hatchback and I noticed you have several final drives for the D20 5spd transmission.....my Optra actually came with a 3.50 ratio instead of the usuall 3.55 ratio.

I'm sure that a few Nubira guys might like the idea of a different ratio.

( for all those who don't know..... changing the final drive ratio will increase the acceleration... which makes the car feel like it has more horsepower )

The intimidator site offer 3.722, 3.944 and 4.176 final drive gear ratios.

If you have high horsepower a lower number like my 3.50 FD ratio is better because you will not have to shift as often.....but for low horsepower the higher ratios will give you better acceleration.

You must also note that this may increase fuel consumption since your car will run at a higher RPM level at any given speed.

The Nubira has a 3.55 FD ratio.... so lets say for example that you normally run at 2700RPM at 100KPH (60mph) then with the other FD ratios you would be running:

3.722 --> 100kph --> 2830 RPM (increase of 130RPM)
3.944 --> 100kph --> 3000 RPM (increase of 300RPM)
4.176 --> 100kph --> 3175 RPM (increae of 475RPM)

However these gear ratios would increase your acceleration by roughly 5%,10%,15% which effectivly feels like your adding the following amounts of horsepower......

3.722 --> 5% --> like adding 6.3hp
3.944 --> 11% --> like adding 14.3hp
4.176 --> 18% --> like adding 22.7hp

So although higher number final drive ratios will decrease fuel economy they will give you better accleration and make your car faster.

You also have to note that changing the gear ratio will also change the top speed and the speed you can do in each gear.

For example in second gear you can usually almost hit 100kph..... but with a 4.176 ratio 6500RPM (redline) in second gear only takes you to about 85kph.

****** please note these calcualtions are just quick estimates....so there might be some variance ***************

Thank you all for the welcome and also detailed description of Erfinder :)
I feel you are the specialist at least in transmission. :D

Yes, for changing final dirive ratio, you should consider your horsepower, levels of tune and where is focus on... do you want fast acceleration or do you want to increase top speed, it also affect fuel economy..

so, we mixing the final drive ratio with 3 types (wide, midium, close) of transmission as taste of our customers.

For simple example, two guys have same horsepower of same car with midium transmission of 3.944 f.d.r

A guy like to have fast accelaction and enjoy dragrace or want to have fast drive on the winding road, then he can choose the close transmission with 4.176 f.d.r. (but top speed is reduced, fuel consumption is increased)

but, B guy enjoy cruising on the straight express highway and want higher top speed than now, then he can choose the wide transmission with 3.722 f.d.r (but he lose acceleration, fuel consumption is decreased)

detailed informations relating each gear ratio and top speed, ara described in our web site but not translated to English yet. I will do my best as soon as I can.
