enging problem

Post by zerosilence »

ive had this engine problem for a while i took the daewoo to a daewoo dealership in bakersfield for a broken timing belt and valves. about a thousand miles later i started hearing this clicking in the engine and when i reved it it was louder and quicker noise. i knew it was something with the oil. so i took it to another daewoo place because i didnt want to drive all the way to bakersfield. they said that it was the oil filter and the cap they replaced them w/ an oil change. got home about a month later i started hearing it again. i think its eatherthe valve cover or the bakersfield place didnt put a head gasket on. what do you think the problem is and how much will this cost to fix? thank you

So, the sound went away (for a while) after the oil was changed huh ?

What weight oil are you using ? Maybe its too thin ? Your in the same hot climate I am in. You could try Castrol 20-50 conventional (dino) oil.
It may be a lifter that is not performing like it should. That would cause a clicking noise. When the shop did the valve job ? Did they install new lifters ? Also, if they used the old lifters and didn't put em back in the same bores they came from ? that could be the problem. I had that happen with a Ford escort once.

i use 5 30w and have never had a problem with it. the daewoo place didnt say anything about the lifters. i took it to a nother place a couple days ago when my car made the noise he said it wouldnt make that noise if you put oil in your car. and i told him that i kinda know that im trying to find out why it is using so muck oil. and i was checking it out yesterday and i saw a couple oil spots on the engine; 1)by the oil cap and 2) the gap between the valve cover and the head. thank you for helping me out
