Should I buy leganza with oil leak?

Post by seabreeze »

I was thinking of buying a 2000 daewoo leganza with 41,000 miles for $2600. The interior and everything seems great except when I open the hood. There seems to be a lot of oil leaking down from around the headers area all the way to the ground. It was all over the front of the engine. What can it be? Head Gasket? Is it worth buying? How much would I have to put into it about?

my leganza always cooks the rocker cover gasket.... in australia its a $30 gasket, so every few months i change it, its no big deal and it doesnt exactly hurt my pockets

i had a leaky head gasket that gave the same symptoms... make absolute sure where exactly the oil is leaking, if it is head gasket then it is a relativly big job... if it is a cam cover gasket it is a peice of cake.

hmm well looks like I am a daewoo owner im sure it cant be worse than a pontiac. The coolant seem a lil dirty but the oil is coming out of the valve cover. It looks like someone tried to tighten it to stop the leak and the gasket broke.
