Washer / wiper stalk

Post by Turtle_Wax »

I was at my local breakers and saw a Lanos similar to mine. I noticed that the washer / wiper stalk also had a twist on the stalk for adjusting the timing of the intermittent wipers (slower or faster). My Lanos has not got this and my intermittent wipers are fixed to sweep approximately every 6 seconds. If I fit this stalk in my car will I be able to also adjust the timing of my wipers - or is the wiring different?

Yes you are correct. I today fitted it to my Lanos and the new stalk also has a seperate 2 pin connector which plugs into the wiring loom. I located the intermittent wiper wire and cut it to attach this new 2 pin connector.

I also had to swap over the relay unit as my relay was set to sweep every 6 seconds even when the stalk is on the fastest setting. It now sweeps every 2 seconds on fastest to around every 12 seconds on slowest. Where I live the weather is usually wet so it's good to ba able to adjust how often the wipers sweep depending on how heavy it is raining :)
