where is the engine vin# located?

Post by azazel19 »

my wife has a 00 lanos hatchback and when she got it there were several problems with it not so many now but i'm suspecting that the engine doesn't match the model year of the car. For example thermostat housing for the car vin is plastic but the one on the car is metal several other things like this. anyhow i just want to see if the engine vin matches the cars and if not i can properly get engine related parts that require vin numbers. thanks.

if you have a metal thermostat then you're set anyways. those are very rare on a lanos. and the plastic ones go out on you very easily. sorry but i don't know where the vin is on the engine exactly but i figured you'd want to know you got very lucky on that thermostat.

not sure exactly but on my 1.5 SOHC it was on the top right area of the block, on the 2.0 DOHC it was on the right side of the block near the clutch housing.
