about 2 months ago, the timing failed
about 3 weeks ago, I decide to fix it.
I finished the job on last Sunday afternoon.
I spent about 800$ for all parts and labor.
about 270$ for 16 valves from dealer
50$ for valve guide from ebay+overnight shipping.
300$ labor for rebuild cylinder head(replace valves, resurface, install valve guides ), the mechine shop told me my valve guide were also damaged.
another 200$ for head gasket set, timing kit and water pump.
and other small money for engine oil, coolant, spark plug........
Then I do everything else in my back yard. Ask my father to make a 42mm wrench, get help from a mechanic friend. Thanks them a lot.
I almost spent 3 days to put everything back. The lower timing belt cover was broken into several pieces due to the timing fail.
I spent long time to put them back because they always touch the timint belt and make noise.
I did not tighten the head bolt as fast as they are required, just 60+60+60. I think they are not new one, may be can not bear that.
At least now, the car runs good after 20 mile test driving.
every daewoo owner should replace all timing parts for every 30K mile, I think.
you may spend some money to buy a good timing belt, but all the pulley are made by plastic, they are so fragile
I rebuild my lanos
