My car gets about 22-24 mpg city, and 30-35mpg high way, just keep your foot from accelerating hard... and if you see a red light that's close enough to coast to, without slowing traffic too much, go ahead and coast... and don't brake hard, you'll save so much more gas that way...jim747 wrote:I wanted to know what milage people are getting from the stock lanos 1.6 with auto trans.
I was pretty lead foot for a while, then i changed how i drove, and i was was saving money at the pump because i could go less often... so if you're worried about what the average MPG is, even if it's bad for a mechanical reason you could probably improve it still by being nice to the car...
Some people such as mofo are crazy lucky and if they drive hard they get better MPG O.o i wish i could drive hard for good mpg =/
a woo that is a work in progress

Yeah, turning your car on and off at every light will waste a whole lot of gas. Not to mention it isn't really too good for the engine to be turning it on and off so frequently.
On both of my cars ('01 Lanos, and '99 Lanos), in mixed highway/city traffic with generally mellow driving with the offhand WOT acceleration, I'm bettering 31 mpg. It's pretty good for a relatively heavy little car with an old engine design. Even on a few tanks when I drove like a madman, I had trouble getting worse than 20 mpg, so the cars are relatively consistent.
I'm happy with it, I have friends with SUVs that struggle to get 20 mpg, and HATE me for my small asian cars.

well thats because there car was redneck..... urs ain't ok clear Y'all heheh, as long as u go slow and don't step on the gas pedal like a mad man, you will be ok... hehe. oklanos2001 wrote:well driving slowly USUALLY helps on gas, not sure about you skinner, but turning off your car at lights is actually worse. everytime you start up your car it uses up like a miles worth of gas. those rednecks you saw probably just has a piece of shit car.

i asked why all the rednecks turned there cars off at lights around here and its because all the have is headers and nothing else.... this way the cops dont pull them over... but wouldent it be louder to crank your car up? Oh well seems kinda stupid to me but i mean wat do you expect from Redneck central north carolina lol
