Can a crankshaft position sensor increase fuel consumption??

This is my question , read that a guy changed his crankshaft pos sensor and all his fuel problems solved.
I think this could be my problem , and would like to know if this is posible.
My car is very little resposive specialy at low revs.
Does anyone know how to chech this sensor?
Is it easy to take off?
Is it cleanable , optical , magnetic or any other ?

Daewoo lanos 1.4 i , all filters changed(except fuel), new oil, 35000 Km . Cleaned TB. Very bad mpg.

not sure how to check it but if it is bad it should throw a CEL.

again not sure if it will affect fuel consumption or not.

it is easy to take off indeed.

no one ever mentioned a proper way to clean it and others said it is a magnetic device, in my opinion that will need a volatile cleaner to do the job.

if i were you i'd replace the fuel filter before attempting anything with the sensor.

I think it will. I disconnected mine a week ago and you could smell it going from lean to rich and all over the place.

i know the clip on my crankpositon sensor wire ,is broken, if it goes to high a rev, it will bog downand then cel that a misfire on 1 cylninder. but i used tarp tape to fix it though, and i don'tknow if it effects the fuel consumption

There isn't a benefit to cleaning this sensor. They go out frequently. Down at the dealership I work at we see daewoos all the time throwing CEL's for that. As for fuel consumption, Try getting your fuel injectors cleaned and calibrated. I do this way to often (Once a month) but it always helps. I wouldnt worry about that sensor, there are plenty more that could cause the problem. Try stripping your throttle body apart and clean that. Cleaning the valves helps. Also check the oil and maybe try a ester based oil. I'm not completly certain but all of the older (and wiser) mechanics claim that ester based oils help with everything.
