Radio code

I have an '01 Lanos. My daughter went out to show a friend the car and said the stereo didn't work.The battery never did get disconnected but the radio wants the code. I just bought the car and have no code. Do they stash it somewhere like other carmakers do, or am I SOL. Thanks for any help!!
