does anyone at all know how to remove the rev limiter in a car's engine? or would I need to take it to "the professionals" to have it done?
The rev limit on the Lanos is (i think) too low, kicking in at 6000 rpm. it annoys me when at full throttle shifing out of 1st and 2nd, as the engine runs through those revs the quickest, and ive hit the rev limit bout 3 or 4 times, and evry time i do, it almost brings the car to a sudden stop and pushes the revs down to almost 3000 rpm.
any ideas?

fair enough. never really thought about reinforcement on the engine.
ok, dont worry about it then, i wont be removing the rev limit....................... yet.
i'll wait till I've got some major engine mods before doing that then.
thanx evryone.

let me just add that them mods are expensive so you can stroak your 1350 engine to 1500 or swap in a 1600 DOHC and pay les that what it would cost to let your engine rev past 6500 RPM.

Changing the rev limiter isnt the best idea especially early on in the mod game... It puts so much extra strain on your internals...
These engines arent like Hondas that rev really high... but rather make lots of mid range torque.
You'd be better off getting you fuel and timing remapped for 98octane fuel... or get something like a SAFC if your staying unboosted
