I was thinking about this on my way home today and i thought i would ask here for some more feedback..
I was thinking about driving (of course) and how you drive may affect engine integrity.
Somebody once "instructed" me on the proper way to drive after he showed me how stock air filters could be removed for more power.
He told me to put it in 2nd and hold the revs till it got to about 4000 or so, then floor it.
I was impressed with how the car suddenly took off, but it got me thinking, why would i need to hold it till it reached a certain number of revs?
Wouldnt flooring it (or near flooring it) get the revs up alot quicker?
I tried this other method a while back (i got all excited about it when i started to notice the engine noise was alot beefier sounding)... but a few days later i had dirty injectors (i think... eventually having to get a new fuel filter)
So i thought id lay off that n go a bit lighter on the pedal, but i noticed that the car seems to run alot better when i giv it a bit more accelerator n keep the revs up a bit more (from 1st right thru to 4th or 5th seems best)... but im worried revving it as i do is harming the engine...
My car is pretty tempremental (since my mate convincedme to reset the computer, its a bit all over the place) so i dont know how its gona react most of the time...
Anyways, sorry about the long read but i really wanted some opinions here as i would like to get as much fun outa my car as possible... without breaking it hehe...

well the more you drive like your racing everywhere the faster you will wear down your engine. just b/c it has to work that much harder when you floor it than when you just cruise around at like 3500rpm. heres an analogy for ya. you can jog a mile and still keep goin, if you can run your fastest for a mile you are probably about to pass out afterwards. and plus driving always in the high rpms kills the gas mileage.

I do not understand how you get dirty injectors from removing the air filter; that doesn't make sence.
Dirty injectors result from dirty fuel that is not being filtered by the fuel filter and depostits build up in the injectors.
Needing to replace the filter and getting dirty injectors go together, but removing the air filter is not part of the problem.
i know i drive mine hard and accordingly i am sticking with a tight maintenance schedual... i change my Mobil 1 engine oil every 5000 kms (3125 miles) and replace fuel and air filters at 10000 kms (6250 miles) and i check the suspension every 5000 kms as well.
its all about how well you keep your car running... if you just forget about maintenance it will break down eventually even if you drive like my dad, i have had the woo for 71500 kms now and she is still great.
