Boot Neons???

Hey all, jus wonderin whether anyone can help me...im wonderin how i can runa 12inch neon tube that supposed to run on 12v of power...through my boot....basically i want the neon to be on whenever i open my boot up...basically a replacement for the stock boot light...jus wonderin how i could run this...could the boot light be of any help and how do i do it..?

Simplest way I see is to run a positive cable with an inline fuse from the tube to the positive cable of the trunk (boot) light, and then either ground the negative wire from the tube to the body of the vehicle or attach it to the negative wire from the trunk light.

I think that would be the easiest way.

you can splice into the boot light wires and you should be alright.

I suggest you have it check with a volt meter that you can know which wire is the positive and which one is the negative.

That's how I did mine (I have an Optra though) but it's basically the same install.

That is what I did!

I have a blue neon on each side so when the hatch is opened, both sides light up in blue neon.

I connected the positive wire of each neon to the positive terminal where the light bulb used to be (removed the light bulb) and grounded each negative wire of the neons to the body.

Since the boot light has 2 wires one postive and one negative, if you had 2 neons in the boot you wanted to hook up, could you attach both of the neons to one single cable, for the postive and same for the negative or would it overload or be dangerous?

That is what I have and no fuses have burned out in the 2 years I have had them connected like that.

So yes, you can connect both the positive leads to the single positive lead where the light bulb was.

Sweet now all i need is a neon lol. Any chance there is another lead in the boot i could use instead of the boot light so i dont have to cut off the plug?
