ECM and EBCM, 2 boxes or one box?

Post by mister_g »

I have 1.6DOHC Lanos sport 3D.
My ECM (ECU) is located right to passanger legs (in front of right door). I was looking troght manual, and ABS is controlled with EBCM.

Manual says that ECM, EBCM are located below drivers seat, or right to passanger legs (in front of right door)...

So, is EBCM in same box as ECM, or EBCM "is" located below drivers seat...

Thank you...

no idea whats a EBCM but since 2002 or 2003 all Lanos ECUs where relocated from under the passenger seat to the passenger kick panel... i suppose the ECU is still controling the ABS so you got nothing under your seat.

you can always take off the passenger seat and look under it... their is a plastic box under the seat where my ECU lies ('99 lanos) i suppose yours is empty.

EBCM is ABS controller...
ECM is engine controller (ECU)...

It seems that newer lanos have EBCM and ECM in ONE box, right from passanger legs, next to right door mounting...

I was wondering about removing ECM, when I put c20xe in. But lanos ECM(EBCM) is still needed for ABS... So, ECM stays in...
