Changing an O2 Sensor

My dad wants me to change out his oxygen sensor on his 93 chevy silverado, I was wondering, after i get it out how would i be sure that it is in fact bad? What are the signs of a bad oxygen sensor?

there is only one way to be sure.. have the computer scaned with a scan tool before you remove it

I can't have it scanned it's ODBI... at least i can't do it for free... unless i count blinks... which i'm willing to do... lol... but i'll take a look tomorrow, Thanks!

auto zone will scan i for free... i think

Autozone here, only scans ODBII... I wish they had an ODBI tool, had to count blinks on my friends 240SX about a month ago =/
