D-Tec 16 V Timing belt replacement

Post by wjester3 »

I recently aquired a 1999 Woo Leganza. I believe it is a 2.0, not too sure. I have nherited a timing belt job with this car that i believe someone had started and gave up on lining the gears. I have checked your forum and have seen the alighnment however, he gears I am working with have some unusual markiings.

first the intake and exauhst cams are mark with not one but to sets of marks. One is just a grooved line from the middle to outside the second is a groove with an arrow, or solid triangle in it.

My question is which line or lines to use. I have been working on this car for about a week and have had no joy. I have seen the lining for the 1.6 here and tried lining it up that way but no joy there as well. If someone knows for sure, it would be of great appreciation.

The motor I am working on has a tensioner pully with an allen or hex adjustment and a water pump and two idler pulleys. Anyone got a schemmatic on it?

HELP ME!!!!!

Not sure but your camgears could be interchangeable. I think you need to use both marks. One for intake the other for exhaust. Maybe also check that the cam gears are right pinned on the respective camshaft. Have a look here http://www.daewooclub.com/viewtopic.php ... c&start=15 and don't worry, the manual is in english  . If you purchased this car with a stripped belt then look also for bend valves.

P.S. Why not posting a picture of your camgears?
