System Wiring Issues (Fuse Keeps Blowing) Experts!!!

Post by BosnianLanos »

Well, my friend has an Isuzu that he got from his brother. It has a system with 3 10" Subs. It is not much of a system as it is all jumbled together, but I assume if it got hooked up correctly it would thump fairly well.

The wiring is the most ghetto thing I have ever seen. They didn't even bother to go under the carpet, they just have live wires laying around under the floor mats. The main power wire that goes to the battery isn't even wired through the firewall. It just goes out the door, over the fender and under the hood. Now, regardless of that, I still tried to help him out.

Now, the 25 amp fuse on his amplifier keeps blowing out and the light that should be glowing green is glowing red as a warning. I checked everywhere for possible shorts but I haven't found anything. The fuse just keeps blowing.

Now, with that said, what do you guys think the problem may be. Loose grounds, bad power wire, overall bad wiring, a shot amp? He keeps asking me to get it done and I want to help him out, but I'm fresh out of ideas. Help!

If the amp does not turn on at all (allow sound to amplified through it) and the red protection light is constantly on until the fuse blows, then yes, the amp is damaged and needs to be repaired or replaced.

Well, I opened the Amplifier to attempt to service it myself since it was a cheapo brand anyway and the kid really trusts me.

Well, I'm sitting at a table and open the back....

ANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots and lots of large red ants built a nest in the amp.

Most were dead but a couple were still moving around.

Well, I cleared 'em out and hooked it up to a car battery to see what was going on, and an ant body created a short and pretty much fried the amp (some part I don't know the name of).

How bad does that suck? Especially for me, who had a large posse of ants make an uninvited visit onto my pants!

I have no clue.

It was his brothers Isuzu Trooper and the interior looked fairly clean so I definately wasn't expecting an ant invasion.

Damn, I should have taken some pics.

I guess I can always tear up my vacuum bad and show you guys what happened.

LoL. I still haven't figured out why the damn ants were in the amp.

However, he ordered a new amp and managed to break that one too. All of his wiring is crap and created some kind of short.

Synopsis: Power wire from engine, over fender, into doorjam, back (above carpet) to amp, all speaker/sub wiring is under the floor mats and moist may I add.

I don't know why people who know nothing regarding their cars or choose not to do something right keep asking me for help.
