exhaust upgrade

Post by nefary »

I want to know more about the performance parts & its benefits. So I heared alot about the exhaust upgrades & custom headers . I want to know what is the diffrence between the stock & custom headers.
what is the best matreial to make a custom exhaust pipes? & in which diameter.
Is it better to make a bigger pipes or it wont do a diffrence?
about headers . I heared about the custom made one which increase the horse power of the engine @ the wheels by 22 hp. is it right?
& what I will need to do the job?

custom headers and custom exhausts allow the exhaust to flow better, but there is such thing as too big, in which case you lose back pressure. Stock equiptment is designed to surpress noise, and in surpressing noise it will surpress power to an extent. As a random point, its cheaper to get a sports cat back then it is to get the stock item put on as free flowing mufflers have less stuff in them then stock ones. I payed 280 for my exhaust with a resonator, yet id be paying somewhere round 600 for a stock one, or atleast thats what the muffler people were charging for a stock system.
