New audio system

Post by kinkyllama »

Well it will be along time before i buy anything but ive been looking for like EVER. I definitly want new speakers up front, maybe componets but i dont know anything about them. So if anyone has ideas please tell me.

As for subs (instead of my current system). Im thinking about two of these subs(2):

Powered by this amp:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 1&tc=photo

Or maybe this amp:
http://sonicelectronix.com/item_367.html

Would it be better to overpower the RMS by 150 or underpower it by 50?

Anyone wanna recommend speakers for the front?

You wanna Stay under The Wattage RMS or you'll blow something.

That system would be putting out some mad wattage.

Probably wanna get a better battery. Optima Yellow Top.
Some Welding Cable.
Ported Box.

If you get enough wattage it's better to keep the RMS under the Max constant output... keep things cooler... but if you get a big system like this, you may wanna get a Voltage checker.

Maybe i should have said how much i wanna spend.... wayyy wayyy under $1000, more like about $500. Im not doing any dampening either.

The price wont include the box either.. my dad knows someone that makes them for a living and is just gonna have him make one for me for free.

Where exactly are you supposed to put the ground wires? i know ive read it like a million times but i never know what there talking about. lol

I think if you search good someone had a pic by pic tutorial of the ground wires.

i guess for under $500 i'd stick with Pioneer

Pioneer H/U, Pioneer Speakers, and possibly infinity or sony Xplod's for subs.

I wanna put my subs in the tire compartment so when i dont have my back seats in (almost always) you cant see them when you walk by. To help prevent theft.

Just with a rough guess for two 12s would it work?

Its like a rectangle. 30 inchs long, 20-22inches wide and 8-10inchs deep. Would this work at all? I could probably add a couple inchs to make it deeper just by raising the floor with some wood.

I heard a lot of crap about xplods from people that never had xplods to begin with... it's all rumors. I have had my system for over 2 years now and I LOVE it. Everything consists of Xplods except for stock speakers. Xplods are very nice and durable.

Ive got Xplod 6x9 4ways and they sound tremendous. Im thoroughly pleased with their speakers and ive had a head unit that was excellent too.

I originally had a 12 inch Xplod sub and was disappointed in the quality (blew 2 of them without really pushing them) and also the sound wasnt as good as other subs. Compared to stuff like MTX and Kicker they just dont compete in my opinion.

I checked into the Xplods not too long ago because I blew out the speakers in my Ford. :( I found that they had great feedback from people who owned them and that Circuit City (?) and Best Buy would have pretty decent sales every so often. I am still thinking about going with them when I eventually upgrade the system in my current vehicle, but that is a couple of years down the road yet.

Be sure to post pics once everything is done! :)

You couldn't pay me to have any Xplod product in my car.

Poor sound reporduction, false wattage claims and too high of a product failure rate.

Hmmm... I always loved sony and their products. *Knocks on wood* I never had any problems with their products and the quality is always good. That's my personal experience with them.

Did you remove the door panels first? That would be the first step. My ford had them screwed in, so it was pretty easy... I'm not so sure how it is with daewoos.
