Aveo (Kalos) radio removal

Post by kmhrvv »

I recently purchased an '04 Chevy Aveo, which from the reading I have done is the same as a Deawoo Kalos, and am interested in installing an aftermarket stereo.

Anyone have instructions on how I can go about removing the radio that is currently in the car, and installing the new one - without destroying the dash in the process? 8)

Thanks in advance

pull the 2 plastic pieces on the sides of the radio off. then remove the 4 screws that hold the radio in. really easy, you have to pull hard on the plastic pieces. don't worry they won't break, at least mine haven't yet. Good Luck

rear speaker size

Post by twright »

Anyone know what size the rear speakers are in the Aveo hatchback? They look to be 4x3???

I haven't measured them yet. I looked on Crutchfield and it only states the door speakers are 4 inch rounds.....

Odd, Circuit City's web page says the door speakers are 6 1/2", not 4".

What did you use to pull the sides off? A flathead or something? I can't get it by hand.

You got it. Flathead screwdriver worked fine to get them off - just have to be carefull not to scrach anything too much.

I got it... The Aveo seems to use the same dash kit as the Lanos... I know the wiring is the same which is great because my mp3 player just plugged right in. I'm going to tell them I forgot something out of the Lanos tomarrow and get the dash kit.
