Check Engine Light
I have just recently purchased a 2001 Daewoo Lumos Sport. It as 159,000 miles on it, but the engine was replaced 40,000 miles ago. I have driven the car maybe a week. It shakes if I go 65. Twice the check engine light has started blinking. At first I just added oil and it worked, or so I thought, turning the car off just turned off the light until the next time i went around 65-75. I went to get it tested but they said there were no codes on the engine. I trusted them and it stopped for 5 days, and i drove the car about 30 miles today and the engine light came on but it wasn't blinking. I checked the oil and it looked good. I checked every liquid in the car and it was all fine. Help? Oh, and I already tightened the gas cap.
Re: Check Engine Light
I believe the flashing check engine light is for a bad misfire in one of the cylinders. I have had it happen on my Lanos also. The reason it goes out is that it gets reset as soon as you cycle the ignition one time and DON"T have the bad misfire. The constant check engine light is another issue and it will have a code with it. Depending on what that code is it too may also reset after several ignition cycles with no error. i think the camshaft sensor resets after 3 good cycles, for example. Depending where you are at you can get them to read the codes for you at some of the big auto parts store. Once you know the code do a search on here for that code or that part and i am sure you will find something to help you.
As far as the shaking..... are your tires in good shape and balanced?
Good luck and keep us posted. You will find some very knowledgeable people that are very helpful on here. I don't know much but can try to help.

Re: Check Engine Light
Hi,
A solid MIL as a flashing one should leave error code(s) in the ECU's memory. At least for the next 40 driving trips without error I think. Try to find another place where they'll be able to read your code(s).
A flashing MIL should be take as "great problem" since your engine and/or catalytic converter can be permanently dammaged.
Maybe you have a fuel delivery problem. Was your fuel filter replaced lately? No strange/grinding noise with fuel pump?
