good evening everyone.
I have been driving around on my 15" rims with hubcaps for so long I am so sick of them.
I needed to buy new tires so I figured I would check craigslist for a deal on rims and tires.
I picked up a set of 4 lug universal rims with almost new 17" tires for $200!!
the rims are 4x114.3 17" x 7" and the tires are 204/40-R17
Before I bought them I test fit them and the bolts line up great!
The only issue I think I may have is there are NO center caps.
The only other thing that concerns me (because I dont know jack about rims)
the old 15" steal rims look to be hub centric as the hole in the center fits snug over the wheel hub.
But..
the new 17" rims I bought dont seem to be like that.
When I install the rims on the car there is a gap/space and the hub does not come through the rim.
This is where I need help.
DO I need special wheel spacers with a lip on them for the hub centric thing.
or do I need specail center caps?
or do I not need anything and do the lug nuts center the rims?
please help me here if possible.
thanks
Here is a pic of the rims sitting next to my car.
they are white and have scuffs in them, I was thinking about painting them silver.
what you think?

i didnt use anything, the bolts centred the wheel
if you have nuts, not bolts, you may need the ring to centre them. if you dont have it, you might notice a bit of vibration. unless you're not going to do track work, i wouldnt worry bout it.
put them on and take them for a drive, just test them out. lol
oh, and keep them white blue and white looks good vv

you do need centering rings for the rims...relying on the bolts only to center the rim doesn't work most of the time and you might get vibrations at high speeds... no matter how accurate your wheel balancing is you would still get vibrations as the rim is not centered correctly
i suggest you got to a machine shop and fabricate 4 aluminum rings that fills the gap between the rim and the hub

Thanks dudes
I asked the question here because I don't want any vibrations.
I definitly want the centering rings if they are availible.
I am not sure about having a machine shop make them, but I do know a guy who owns one.
I saw that you can buy them if you know the right size.
I have not put them on and took it for a ride yet.
I may just for the hell of it before going to buy centering rings.
The bolt holes on the rim are so small so I need to go buy those tuner lug nuts anyway to install them.
The way they look it looks like they could center on the lug nuts as well.
If not I was told by a friend to take a rim and my car to this local rim shop and show them, they will either have the centering rings there or can order them and they shouldn't cost more than 30 bucks.
Either way I can't wait to install them, you say keep the white. I do like them white, but they are a little scuffed up. Maybe some white tough up paint is all I need. Haha
I was so happy when I came back to this site and saw it was still here! Haha

Thanks again dudes

go to any tire and wheel place and they sell centering rings. you can get the cheap ones made of plastic or the good copper ones. shoule be fairly cheap. hell autozone or somwhere like that might even have them. but if all else fails....look on ebay
