is there any reason why the radiator fan would not switch off?
it comes on at start up (yes, even a cold start) and stays on until the engine is off.
started doing it 1 day ago for no apparent reason, its not over-heating.
it seems to be causing some starting issues, ie: the engine needs persuasion with throttle to start. and its starting to sound like the motors being severely over-run with a whining noise.
i'm gonna disconnect the fan completely tomorow until its sorted out, because its also putting a massive strain on the electrical system as the headlights are very dim (which doesnt help with night driving, especially considering its dark at around 4pm).
any ideas or thoughts as to why this has happened? doubt it'll be thermostat related as the radiator seems to be doing its job keeping the engine cool.
the last time i remember the fan having to work this much was when it was turbo'd, which it obviously will hav to with higher under-bonnet temps, etc. other than that, usually the fan barely ever kicked in.
does the fan have its own temp sensor/switch? think it'll be something along these lines... but need a second opinion.
Radiator fan... broken?

Cargo cultism is a beautiful thing as long as you never fall for it.
Re: Radiator fan... broken?
faulty temp sensor will trigger fans in hi speed all times... it is a fail safe mode
could be something with the radiator fan relays or so
