Leaking power steering line.

Post by azazel19 »

I have a 2000 1.6L lanos and i'm leaking power steering fluid from the hard line that screws into the pump. It's the copper looking line that has the weird bend in it that goes over the motor mount. I think the shield that covers it came off and it rubbed on the motor mount and wore a hole in it. What is that part called I looked on gm-car-parts.com and they have all the power steering hoses but no diagram. anybody that may know please help. how hard is it to change i don't have an ac compressor anymore it crapped out so i took it out and never replaced it. thanks

Dont know the specific name, judging from those, i'd say it might be the P/s pressure hose though, as it's not a return, it's not the actual pump and i don't think it's a suction hose.

Your best bet would prob be a scrap yard?

You need to get it sorted soon though, power steering fluids really corrosive, and running the pump dry can fuck it up, so you're prob best taking the power steering pump belt off if it's seperate from the alternator until it's fixed, so that it doesnt spin with the engine. If that makes sense

Maybe you can find your reference in the parts manual at http://rapidshare.com/files/79258000/La ... l.pdf.html . Hope it covers your model.
