So which would be the best transmission to get? Pre 2000 or post 2000?

The only reason I said that was because the close ratio gearing wasn't introduced until the Lanos Sport came out in 2001.

I saw the same information, but I went today on www.daewoous.com where you are search for an order parts online (you have to register first), and they show only one manual transmission for the Lanos which is a wide ratio with a 4.176 FD.

we determined that the 2001 "Sport" models have a SHORT set of ratios. there are indeed TWO sets of manual transmisisons for the 1.6L lanos

Excuse my ignorance, but was there a Sport model before 2001? If so, did these also have the short ratios?

only the sports had them and i think they were only the 2001 models (i'm pretty sure they were 2001 models, but i'm not sure exactly on the year).


they are distictley different in exterior apperance, interior appearance, and transmission.

sport hatchback that came with leather interior and stock bodykit and spoiler plus many other option surely only came out in 2001.

Some people claim to have 2000 sport models (but they don't feature anything like the 2001+ models)... so who knows...
