TheGreatAndPowerfulOz wrote:Well guys .... I am scheduled for surgery on Wed morning. :)

I have a herniated disk that is buldging into the spinal cavity and pressing against my spinal cord.

They are going to make a 1" cut in my lower back and use a scope thing to go in and cut out the enlarged part of the disk.

I have about 10 days of recovery time at home after that.
The doctor will decide if I am well enough to go back to work after that.
This means I am off work until March 3rd ... I will have had more than a month with out going to work ... and still getting paid!!! :)

LOL

The surgery is done and everything very well! :)

I can stand upright with no pain and walk without limping for the first time in more than a month!!

I'm still very groggy from being put to sleep, so I am going to have a nap for the rest of the afternoon.

Thanks to everyone for their support & well wishes. :)

They knocked me totally out on some good stuff ... LOL
I didn't even know I went to sleep!

Now I have this great big bottle of Percocet. Great big tablets almost the size of Tums antacid!!
The bottle says I can take up to 2 every 4 hrs ... sheesh ... maybe I don't want this stuff I am on now to wear off .....

LOL

But anyway ... YAY!!!! I can stand up again ... and no more limping!!! :)

You never realize how good it is to be able to do something as simple as stand up until you can't.

I am progressing well with each passing day. :)
Still limping slightly, but that is only because the muscles in my right leg are very tight after being bent over and limping for 2 months.

Most of the time, I have very little or no back pain, but things like getting in & out of the car hurt quite a lot, but it is only a momentary, sharp pain.

I went out yesterday with a friend for lunch, then we walked around for a short time in the mall and drove to the beach.
That was the best afternoon I have had in a long time! It was so good to get out of the house!

A few more weeks and I won't have any more pain.

:)
