I have no doubt Stef will be close to his goal. When my car went 14.17 it calculated to 208 HP. When it went 13.61 that calculated out to 234 HP and that was with the original 43 MM throttle body. I recently went to a larger throttle body and once I get a few issues worked out I'll report what increase that shows. I know he's going to change his TB too because his new one is on my workbench! And that intercooler! I think I'm having a "size envy" issue comparing his to mine! Ha ha ha

Plus, his car weighs about 500-600 lbs less than mine so he'll have a real animal on his hands once it's done!

If your gonna try for 400hp I hope you've a lot of time and a large bank balance to fund it. A 'reliable' 400hp 2.0L engine probably won't leave you much change from $10k once you've figured in all the supporting engine parts, machining work, Intake and exhaust manifolds, ECU, fuel system and the dyno time to set it all up. Then theres building or finding a suitable tranny to take that kind of power, driveshafts, wheel bearings, etc. On top of that, the car will probably only be usefull for straight line use. Theres no way your going to put down 400hp through the front wheels whilst turning corners too, without spending touring car money on hi-tech suspension parts, re-located mounting points, etc.
Thats one of the reasons why I'm limiting myself to 200-250hp, its about as far as I can go to maintain a car that can go round corners without $$$$ being spent on specialised suspension parts and a 'stock' chassis, ie nothing channeled, relocated, etc.

Basically you've got to think about the car as a whole and how that magic 400hp engine will effect everything else.

It's not too hard to make a Lanos RWD. It's quite common to convert cars here, you just stuff the engine and tranny in the boot!

This is a mk3 Astra (same model as mine) with an engine in the rear....

Oh......It's got one in the front too

davantage is having 1 a 4wheel drive... and 2 he has 2 engine's pulling same weight so his car is fast on accel now (wel i think so not sure) i mean ok maybe he doesnt have alot more HP... but his torque must be alot higher

but once 1 engine is more worn as the 2nd you get powerdifrence and inballence in driving

Wouldn't it be getting HOT every time in the car with the engine right behind your back.... Also, do you really have to move the engine to the back to convert the Lanos to RWD? I'm not sure, but I think you don't have to.

It's easier than buying a special gearbox, fitting a propshaft tunnel and propshaft, mounting the axle or diff, new suspension mounting points etc.

People do it though. There's a few people in the UK with mk2 Astras (Pontiac Le mans) which are RWD with the engine longitudinally mounted. They just use the axle and stuff from a good old mk1 Escort with 4 bar linkage conversion.

The guy who owns the car is fitting a firewall in the rear to stop heat/fumes etc.

When I went to the races last month there was a VW Polo there which had a rear mounted Audi TT engine. For the rear firewall it used the rear window and panel from a VW Caddy. It ran low 12's with wheelspin most of the way up the strip.
