Ooh, our very own Daewootech soap opera! We have his name, his address, his phone numbers, his employer, his college...contacting him wouldn't be too tough.

He's not doing much to hide. His "Illness" story is bullshit...he may have been sick back then, he's fine now, especially if he's working on servers daily. He didn't screw me over...but all it would take would be 1 phone call to Autodesk (his employer...which he seems VERY proud of) asking for his extension or work e-mail address.
All it would take would be a polite phone call asking to get your money back. Since you have PROOF of payment, he can't deny it. I guarantee a threat of calling the local police to show up at his office would QUICKLY get him in line. He's an engineer. The $1,000 he took from you shouldn't be that much to him.
Chris, you paid him $1000. That's GRAND THEFT in any jurisdiction in the states, it's a felony crime which will lead to him being fired from work and potentially going to state prison for 16 months. I bet he'll pay you whatever you ask.
