rear suspension

can somebody explain too me what is goin on there is no strut on my rear suspension on my lanos 01

you have a shock and a spring, the spring is mounted away from the shock. its actually a very basic but reliable (and easy to repair) rear suspension

It's not fully independant. It uses an 'axel' or a 'beam'. 2 hubs are mounted to the beam, which i think, on all lanoses, use Drum rear brakes instead disk brakes.

As was said, because theres no strut for your spring and shock to be mounted in, the shock is bolted onto the beam and bolted down to either strut top from inside the boot. Aswell as that, there are 2 spring 'beds' on the beam, that your springs sit on.

It really is, so so soooo basic. Changing shocks and springs is FAR easier like this as you can just undo the two top bolts from the boot, that hold your shocks in place and the suspension beam will sway down.

Lol hardest bit is undo'ing the handbrake cable and brake fluid lines.

the brake line is rubber, it flexes adn so does the e brake cable. ( think, when you hit a bump in the road, your suspension moves, this is the same, just a lil bit more movement

The way i change the shocks and springs, that's a lotta flex! :P

And here's another pic of a similar rear beam, for sidiouspr.

This one's from a mk2 Astra GTE, which is now in my Daewoo Nexia. I think it's different from the Lanos'es one, but only difference being the size, the hubs bolt up the same and the springs shocks sit in the same places [pretty much].

Haha i know, we had my car up on the ramps anyway swapping the engine and front struts so, everything was done while it was hanging there.

my rear springs were swapped in all of 5 minutes, no joke. of course i didnt have to do it. lol

but yeah, rear suspension swaps are quite simple on the Lanos.

very simple but i have not got around doing it yet have move pressing matters like my water leak

i know i have discussed this a thousand times but bare with me... will the bolt pattern of the hub match the one on a vectra A??

if so then i have found a source for rear disks conversion for a lanos in Egypt (got no Astra GTE here at all)

Yep, aslong as it doent have active rear suspension, ie, the 4x4 versions.
