Nubaroo Forged internal upgrade - Finally!!!
I have been dancing round this upgrade for some time now as the Woo was running fine and I did not want to scratch where it was not itchy - well it started itching and I needed to scratch...!!! LOL
These rods were in my cupboard for some time now. On comparison with Eagle and Pauter rods today these actually look staronger as they are "beefier" in some placed.
Then off course I needed some forged pistons - I decided to go with Wossner 20thou oversize ones
Then I was told by various people that I cannot run 23PSI boost on a block that has been re-sleeved, and picked up a 2nd hand one from daewoo
Then I decided to get a good 2nd hand crank as well - Does anyone know off hand how many bolts the Daewoo crank has for bolting on the flywheel?? - 6 or 8 bolts??? The crank I bought has 6 bolts
I also picked up a steel Opel OPC headgasket specially designed for turbo applications
Then I also picked up and Alluminium sump for better oil cooling
I am waitng on some ACL bigend and Main bearings, and some ARP head bolts as well - should arrive in the next week. The copper clutch is also on the shopping list as soon as my gearbox comes out LOL
Herewith some questions please:
1) I am running 4 x 500CC injectors and a standard daewoo fuel pump. Will this setup be sufficient to run 23PSI boost??
2) I am currently making 195KW/325NM wheelpower with standard internals and 12PSI boost. What sort of power figures realistically should I be expecting with the above upgrade and running round 23PSI boost???
Any tips, pointers and advice will be greatly appreciated

As far as your questions are concerned 500cc injectors might be enough. Have you an aftermarket ecu/standalone to control fueling? And if i were you i'd go for a better fuel pump, dont want something so simple to let your setup down.. Just get a walbro one or something, they're not expensive. Can pick one up for about 60-80 quid over here. As far as what figures you'd be looking at.. ive honestly no idea, you could make an estimate like, at 12 psi if you were making 265bhp, you'd be looking at least about 300 i'd say. At the very least. Get you're fueling spot on though, you don't want to run lean at any time.
Other than that, sweet! . Get it in to fuck! Wanna see this machine running

Yes it is the stock conrod and piston that I was left with extra when I rebuilt the engine a previous time. I just wanted to show the difference - quality wise and thickness.exist3nce wrote:niiiiice! Which rod and piston is on the right? stock?

I am running a piggyback Dastek computer that controls fuelling and timing - When I was running standard injectors I used an additional 550cc 5TH injector in my boost line for additional fuelling which is still there I an getting an external Walbro pump installed, and if there is not enough fuel from the 4 x 500cc injectors I can allways hook up the 5th 550cc injector again

Good news is that my job for Monday got cancelled so I am going to whip out the old setup, get the flywheel, etc off for balancing, also get the clutchplate submitted for the make up of a 4 puck button clutch. The question is - do I get a solid clutch plate made up, or do I get one with springs????
I will keep u guys posted with pics as the rebuild progresses

I got the block and crank from my TUNER - he specialises in Opels and has some spares available for sale. We normally just get an import motor from our local motor importers and then you have a complete setup????xiaogary wrote:where did you get the 2nd hand block and crank?
I am looking for a 1800cc crank and block.

So today I finally got a chance to pull out the motor
These are some shot of the gearbox - cannot make out from the codes what it is - F16/18/20?????
Here are some pics of the break in the box
Later this week will get the crank, flywheel and pullys in for balancing. Still waitng for my ACL bearings and ARP head bolts....

Lol the box code isnt there ya eejit, thats why you cant make it out :P It's supposed to be right where you took that pic, but i cant see it. It's clearly not there, and i dont know what those numbers mean in all honesty.
Like here, here's a Vauxhall box, an f20.
You can see where i've put the red box, it's clear what type of box it is.
On yours though, it doesnt have this type of stamp.

So today I finally got these
And got these back from engineering and BALANCING!!!
Hopefully will get the new ACL bearing set 2morrow - then I can start assembling the sub.
Still waiting for:
1) Oil pump - serviced
2) Serviced turbo
3) Button clutch
4) Welded (repaired) branch
With a bit of luck I could get the Woo running on the weekend????

Finally got the Woo running about 2 weeks ago. Still running the engine in - I have only done round 850KM The engine is nice and quiet - no knocking sounds etc. I maneged to pick up a low mileage 2.0L 8V Opel motor, so now I have a GOOD OEM GM oil pump, and I have used the Opel 8V block on the Woo - From tests done here in SA the Daewoo/Ecotec block are only good till round about 230KW on the wheels....afetr that the blocks break. There is more support round the top of the cylinders of the Opel blocks therefore they can handle a LOT more power than the Daewoo blocks. Here is a pick of the sub assembly in the car with the ARP bolts in place
I am going to change the DumpValve to an EXCEL one - these sound awesome.
Cannot wait to get the motor run in and crank the boost. I have bought an electronic boost controller - will install and test once the engine is run in.

very nice!! Are you still running F20 transmission? I'm just looking at the way the clutch release is, and it looks like it comes out of the transmission as a mechanical lever, and then has an external slave? Was this a custom setup? That is almost exactly what I wanted to do with my F28. Any more details on this would be great!
