loose steering wheel

i have lanos 1997-150k
the steering wheel is loose (not in its rotation direction)
but in the perpendicular direction (when i put right hand in the upper and left hand in the lower and push forward and backward
can any one tell me whats the prob and how can i solve it

Have you tried tightening it?
As in, take off the horn plate and check the nut?

yes i tighten the nut
but the steering wheel still loose

Does only the steering wheel move up and down, away from the steering rack? Or does it feel like the whole thing moves up and down? There's a few bolts ont he steering rack that could be your problem
