Which is why i decided to keep the silver stripes around my car. To make it easier on the eyes, instead of jsut one big lump of green. :)

yes there is mesh in that grill, but since its black you cant see it.
Image

the mesh ive got though, is a lot more dense than average mesh. the holes are smaller. so if painted black it wudnt look as transparent.

Off fleabay?

I'd take it easy, there's always ones popping up for like 30 quid, quick sales. GOnna get myself one after the summer. Was thinking about a lower front aswell until i saw this.

Look how low that hangs. The front legs on the Nexias and astras are weak enough, nevermind that catching a brick or bottoming out on a b road and ripping both them outta the floor. Really dunno what to do. I mean, whats the point, in installing a brace like that, to drive like a pansy round corners? Makes no sense.

Done the grille this morning. didnt do what i originally planned, but im still pretty happy about the end result.

removing the grille, notice silver panel that hides the bonnet catch.
Image

here is the grille's back/inner part, with the vertical and horizontal slats cut out. i had to cut this with a drill cos my jigsaw broke.
Image
yeah... being the idiot that i am i thought i'd do it in my bedroom instead of outside, so i ended up with a floor covered in black plastic shavings.

heres the front/outer cover of the grille being painted to match the colour of the car.
Image

buying silver mesh and painting it black is cheaper than buying black mesh. at least now its got a glossy finish.
Image

silver bonnet catch panel painted black.
Image

heres the grille re-assembled again
Image

and heres the finished product.

i know its not what i planned, but i think i like this better than the single hole grilles.

might go see what i can do about fixing the scrape on the front bumper.

today ive removed the black bump strips from the doors aswell as the mudguards. one was already broken, so thought i'd take the whole lot off.

its starting to look smoother overall, but still needs a good clean inside and out at some point.

cheers matey.
after i put the pics up i did start to think that maybe i should hav moved my car to get better pics, but there was plenty space to stand between the 2 cars when putting the grille in and painting the bonnet.

will gets some pics up later or tomorow of the bump-strip-less and mudguard-less 'Woo. it just makes the car look 'fuller' without the black bits. lol

took quite a few random pics today, but these 2 show the lack of bumpstrips and mudflaps the best.

still need a few more washes before the lines where the strips used to be will fade completely.

its about time that i order that strut brace, and that front lip ive been banging on about, seeing as last weeks paycheck comes thru at midnite tonite.

[alternative thought]strutbraces are unnecessary for cars that never see the track, like mine[/alternative thought]

[another thought]front lips look nice. but seems expensive for what it is.[/another thought]

... but, i am feeling inclined to get the sound system properly sorted. at the moment, ive got a rattle in the left door (something needs tightening somewhere). theres a rattle coming from the parcel shelf, rattle in the left rear quarter when theres too much bass (so, ive taken out the 12" JBL).

im considering a small boot build to hold some (mini) subs and amps, etc (got loads of wood laying round my room, and ive bought a pop-rivet gun for no reason))

here is what i have:
200wmax 6x9 speakers
1000wmax 12" subwoofer (but i really dont want to put this back in the boot as it takes up too much space)

here's what i can get hold of (within my budget):
400w 2-ch amp
1000w 2-ch amp
1600w 2-ch amp (overkill? lol)
5.25" 200wmax "mini subwoofers" x2
6.5" 250wmax "mini subwoofers" x2

those mini subs might be small enough to build into the existing boot liner (the black plastic on the sides), this will also be good for hiding the wires.

what do you guys think should be done? boot build? stupid high power? anyone got any other ideas?

you should ignore the max power on an amp. only look at the RMS power. that 1600 is prolly only like 400 rms. still alot but not any thing like 1600
