broke crank pulley
I tried searching and didn't see anything about it. I just bought the a 2001 Nubira last night and towed it home on my trailer. Back it off the trailer and the the outer ring of the crank pulley was literally laying on my trailer?? Kind of funny actually. Anyways, is this a common problem for a pulley to come apart? I really hate spending 80, 90 bucks a new one. Any ideas??
10 years in the daewoo communites and this is hte first crank pully issue i have heared of

Well i had to take some kind of measure today to see if i could find my oil pressure problem. Sooo i actually cut some little pieces metal and welded those to bridge the inner and outter piece of the pullies. Worked. Little bit off camber, kind of wobbles a little bit, but it was perfect to be able fire it up and watch the the timing belt work and watch my oil pressure. Still have to get one though. I'll post a pic of my jerry rig job after i take it back off!
a reason for the two piece damper.
Your engine is not designed for a one piece solid damper/pulley/balancer.. if it's solid, welded or or out of balance your crankshaft will suffer.
You need to replace your original damper with the original type (two piece, bonded together) this design 'cushions' the harmonic vibrations on the crankshaft. Get a good used one out of a salvage yard or a new one or a rebuilt.
shouldn't cost too much.

Re: a reason for the two piece damper.
The only reason i welded it was so i could start it and work on my oil pressure. It is only temporary. I'm on the hunt for a new one!Spider wrote:Your engine is not designed for a one piece solid damper/pulley/balancer.. if it's solid, welded or or out of balance your crankshaft will suffer.
