i have a friend that used a S-AFC on his Talon and was running 10 psi before he put it on and after putting it on ran 20psi and ended up running to lean and detonated his engine, from what i was told, the SAFC wasnt working right

The s-afc basically clips into the computer on the map sensor and then you can adjust the inector pulse width greater than the computer can. I am not sure if that makes sense to you. It allows you to adjust the pulse width beyoned the scope of the ecu, beucase the ecu can only go up like i think 15% in duty cycle, so you can just go up to 50% with the s-afc. It is something that you would have to tune on a dyno or using a wide band o2 sensor to see how the car actually is runinng and get detailied information. But It really is simple. I will do a post on the installation and include all of the diagrams. I just haven't had the time to be honest with you, just went through hurricane francis and still have lots of friggin school work to do. Boy i tell you , I really hate lBusiness law, but any ways I will do a long post and make it sticky , I have been working on it as a word document,. I would really love to get a site up and runing and do it there becuase it would jsut be so much easier to get all the diagreams and pictures and everything on that. Anyways, I wil do a wirte up and maybe get a geocities or one of those just for that . Ok guys Later

Suddenly, I don't feel so old anymore.

Also just want to throw in that these things are probbably designed to run a little rich.

My question is if the injectors run directly off the S-AFC.

I suppose if it has complete control over the injectors it probably doesn't care that the ECU will be trying to "close the loop" and adjust the injector pulse width to make it run rich.

Basicly if the S-AFC decreases the pulse width to make the engine more lean the ECU will try to compensate because the O2 sensor is not where it is supposed to be.

The ECU will then try to raise the pulse width to the injectors in an attempt to get the O2 sensor to read rich again.

If the S-AFC has control then the ECU will not be able to make the correct adjustments to the fuel curve.

What worries me is that the ECU might change the ignition timing to accomidate the lean position which will then reduce power.

Needless to say that the S-AFC will be limited if it can't "close the loop" and make the ECU happy.

This sure makes me want to make a piggyback system for the Daewoo... if only I had the time :(

Someone needs to take on this project and dummie it. However I re-hooked up my fuel boss and ran some slick-50 through the gas and I'm not running as rich as I was. No more black on start up and very little past 5,000 rpm's.

i dont know how the SAFC works but i know that my Greddy emanage piggy back system will tell the computer that everything is as it should be so that it will not make any changes and all the changes are threw the Emanage
