I am averaging 35 in town, and 39 on highway.

But also where I live there are not much traffic and traffic lights,
(except for the summer), on the coast of Maine lot of tourists.

I've never really checked, but it's been pretty bad in my lanos lately ... I have filled up each day the past 4 days, and used 1/2 tank allready today.

Maybe it is because I'm driving so much ... LOL

I fill my tank once every week and an half, but my work is not to far
anyways. Wow OZ that is pretty expensive for u I bet, considering the gas
prices.

In my Lanos the highest I've gotten was 28mpg... that was 1/2 tank highway, 1/2 city. Usually the average is about 24mpg...

Gas Milage is there a better way?

Post by dk1706 »

Why does the Aveo (Suzuki Sprint, Pontiac Wave, Daewoo Kalos) get better Gas Milage than the Lanos 1.6, same engine but is the E-Tech 2 what makes the difference and what is it that is difference? Is it the weight? Does my Lanos need a diet? :?

Hmmm that is strange cause in my Aveo going back and forth to work and one ocasional run costs me about $10 a week on gas. On the highway it seems I go through gas faster since once I hit 65 the rpms are around 3000 but 55 is much better at 2500 rpms. Now this car is only two weeks old so will see how good it is in a few thousand miles.

I also have learned the best way to shift from an Austrailian that gets 31 MPG's to the gallon in his Aveo. Shift up no more than 2500 RPMS and down shift at 1500 RPMS. It is not always possible tho but I try to be good about shifting.
