Intake air sensor question

Post by SuperDuperDaewoo »

I need to install an intake I have had for months, but I have to drill a hole for the sensor.
Can someone tell me what the diameter of the air sensor is?
I know the sensor part itself is smaller than the base of the sensor, I need to know the base of the sensors measurement.

Thank you for your help.

The sensor pulls out as a whole. IE: if you pull the base of the sensor, the sensor should pull out of the intake tube. If i remember clearly it's a black thing with a red tip. I'm not really sure what you are asking. Basically, pull on the plastic end of the sensor and the whole thing should slide out. If you are afraid of breaking it, I'll do it on my car and send you the measurements. :D BTW, I'm not sure what car you have and it might not be the same on all models...I have a Lanos. :)

I have a 2002 Daewoo Lanos. I know the sensor is one piece, I was just stating the part I need the measurement of. I greatly appreciate your help. I do not have a place right now to work on my car, this helps alot.
Thank you.

Question?

Post by dk1706 »

If I get the chip upgrade what is the diffrence in performance when I press the button on the automatic shifter (overdrive) when the POWER light comes on. Should I keep overdrive on or off when I install the chip?

The chip fools the engine management computer to think it is very cold outside, so there is a lot more fuel being dumped into the engine.

The Power button on the shifter is not an over drive. All it does it change the transmission's shifting pattern to be more agressive and stay in gear longer, as you would if you were driving a manual transmission and were driving agressivly.

The combination of the Chocolate Chip and the power button work nicely together, but most people notice their gas mileage really goes down when you are using the chocolate chip, so they have to fill the tank more often.

Dont fall for this on going eBay scam to sell a 10 cent resistor for $10 or even $20 dollars. It will make your car less efficent and not burn fuel properly. So you waste money on gas. Stick to the tried and true stuff like air intakes and headers.

I used to own a J-Body and this was discussed in length at j-body.org it can actually harm your car. The sensor tells the engine it is cold outside. So what if it is 80 degress outside? What do you think this will do?
