Scuff [I hate rust]

Rust's gone too far.. Will be cheaper to buy a new car than to fix it. Rear pockets, both sills and arches, rear chassis leg and even the DOORS are getting, sorry.. Hve got really bad. Each of the named now have holes in them due too thumbs and a screwdriver...
Devistated. But sure.. Lesson learned... next one I get will be getting sprayed with waxol underneath, a few holes popped in each sill and treated so that the actual holes don't rust, pockets slopped up with grease, rear inner arches slopped up with grease etc. I had even planned all this for my car but i just don't see the point now, gone past the point where it's worth fixing.
Love it to bits but I'll probably end up tracking it and looking for a new cleaner shell
Maybe a three door...
Will post some pics tonight or tomorrow...

Well here's the pics...
Started going over my car for the first time in a while because of my school work getting int he way.
At first glance, the rust hadn't eaten away all that much more at the sill. Was kinda pleased at this.
Here's my friend messing about with his shoe... IN my sill
He started grinding away at it [I hadn't got the balls too ] and as i thought, it was rough, but it was still repairable, would just take a bit more work than expected. I was happy enough to do this though..
Here's the aftermath of the sill and inner arch. Still repairable in my eyes.
It was when we started looking elsewhere. I noticed last time i was at my car, my strut top on the same side as the sill, at the rear was kinda dodgy looking. Had a lot of surface rust on it. We poked at it to see if it was still solid, and it was, but it kinda made us suspicious, if the strut top has surface rust on it where else would be?
First place my friend look was the rear pockets. They were completely gone. btw, all these holes in the rust were done by his thumb, that's how far gone they were...
Then my other friend noticed the rear passenger side chassis leg, and went at it with his thumb.. Which wenth through that aswell.
Once this happened my heart hit the floor like. After swollowing my pride and coming to terms with it, i said, if the other sides half as bad I'm just gonna get a new one.
After noticing that even above my light where the boothatch covers was blistered, we moved onto the other side of the car..
Arch was solid but still pretty rusty. Was only a matter of time before it was like the other side.
We noticed a bit of a big blister in the door. It was there before, i remember seeing it but i wasnt too fussed. Thought it was just the shiutty anti=stone chip paint put on below the green that was the source of the blister, turns out the door had rusted clean through aswell.
Getting underneath, my friend reached up and was feeling around the pockets and said 'I think this one's okay-*CRUNCH*'
As soon as i heard that one crimbling with rust it was just the point of no return.
Here's some views from down the passenger side sill..
Outer skin and middle Skin.
Middle skin and inner skin
We wrapped up the tools and dint start cutting out any more bad bits or attempt welding any better bits in.
Fuckin gutted.
Here she is too.. Love this car

Wow that is alot of rust. Sorry to hear about that. I'm trying to do everything I can to my car now to prevent rust like rust proofing spray underneath, electronic rust inhibitor etc.

It is indeed.. I really recommend spraying it underneath with waxoil or even getting underbody sealant paint and slopping it around everywhere. Don't block any holes with it though.
Whats that Rust inhibitor you're talking about? Might need to invest in one for my next woo..

it'll probly be much cheaper just getting a complete new car.Efrain A. wrote:that british weather is a killer....
cant you get a better shell at a good price overthere?
some places you'll find them goin for under £500 with less than 50k miles.
Cargo cultism is a beautiful thing as long as you never fall for it.
That's what I'm doing. Can't find anywhere within 100 miles of Belfast [where I live] that's selling ones, been checking the Autotrader, Adsforfree, Ebay, everywhere. But it's early days yet.Efrain A. wrote:that british weather is a killer....

Yeah that's right, most nexia's dont go past the 500 mark unless it's from a dealer, in which case they're usually about the 800-1000 mark.
My price range is between 100-400. As im still at school, even the 400's a stretch for me atm, but i'm prepared to pay it. I've money here but it's for driving lessons etc. So all my money from works getting saved up. [Only work 2/3 days a week top so.. might take a while].
I'll get another one though, dont worry
I'm thinking of tracking this one. Roughly patching the sill and the inner arch, and stripping her out completely. I've barely even rove this one. And it'd be a sin to not ever get too properly.. She's still got 130 horsies under the bonnet.

Well it's now gone. Stripped it yesterday. Sad to see it go, but I pick up my new one today. A fella we know is picking it up this mornign and bringing it to the scrappies . I've got everything i need for it here, so that's good I suppose, and a lot of extras. Mainly interior bits that always get broken.
And so it started.
Seats and stuff out.
Engine unwired. Headlights, indicators and grill out
So much space for an intercooler
Dash and stuff out.
Bonnet off.
What leaking power steering fluid and road salt does to your slam panel
Pile of goodies #1
Seats etc
Front Bumper, spare Fanblade and old seats
Car jacked up and struts ready to be pulled
Wings off, Rad out, engine unpiped and ready to be pulled.
Raw because i don't care if it twists.
He was wondering if it was safe :P j/k Was his crazy idea.
Subway cup in my arch lol. No idea who put it there.
Engine dropped out.
Waow.
I did feel bad doing this but hey. It's going to the bin
Took rear bumper off to dinf part of rear chasis missing?
Pile of goodies #2. More piling up
Wheels, bumpers, springs shocks and suspsnesion arm seats, and a steering collum.
Once We had everything out we needed, we started filling it with junk.
Got kinda worried when i seen these getting shoveled in...
Got even more worried when i foudn these.. but at least it made the first find make a bit more sense.
Sitting on 2 steel rims, and a bread try with wheels...
Finished product. Compare
On a brighter note.. Here's the new one
