No, it won't.
I have a 2001 Leganza & the lights are solid colour and have no removable cover or inside coloured parts that can come out.

Unfortunately, I think the Nubira is the same as the Leganza.

Hey OZ,
When you did the lights did the wiring match up, or is the wiring to the backlights just universal?

Doin mine soon gotta find out what is legal here in Maine.

If you currently have the old style lights with the horisontal split so the clear is along the top and the red is along the bottom and you want to change to the new style lights that can be made clear, as seen here:

You will find out that the wiring connecter plugs inside behind the reverse lights are not the same.

The old tail lights with the horisontal split have a total of 4 light bulbs.
On the body side of the light assembly, there are 2 bulbs: One bulb is for brake light (that is on the bottom) and one bulb is for turn signal (that is on the top.
On the hatch part of the light, there are 2 bulbs: One bulb is for reverse (that is on the top) and one bulb is for the brake light (that is on the bottom).

When you switch from the old lights to the new, you will have one extra bulb socket that will not be used and left loose inside the back hatch door.

The best thing to do is just untwist and remove the light bulb sockets from the old tail light assembly. You will then need a small flat screw driver to slide into the side of the plug socket that is snapped onto/attached to the back of the lense assembly.

Remember which lights do what. If you need to, get a friend to help that can sit inside the car and turn the lights on & off, step on the brakes and use the turn signals so you know which bulbs do what.

Once you have the wiring harness, plug assembly and bulb sockets detatched from the the light housing itself, you will then remove the brake light bulb from the socket that is inside the hatch door because it is not used with the new lights.

The new lights only use 3 bulbs:
1) Reverse: located in the back hatch door.
2) Brake light: located on the body, closest to the hatch door.
3) Turn signal: located on the body, farthest away from the hatch door.

Once you have the bulb sockets twisted in the correct order into the new lights, you should test them out, once again, to make sure they are all working before you screw everything back in place. This is so you can fix anything that may not be right and you don't have to take it all apart again.

I have the new style lights, would it be hard putting LED's, is it a custom
wiring or does it just plug right in?

Just wanted to post a pic of the new silver mirror finish turn signal bulbs.
When they are off, they are all silver. When they are turned on, they light up amber, so that they are the legal color for highway use.

The only thing is that those LEDs are completely illegal. When you brake at night, it doesn't light up any brighter. Have someone hit the brakes for you and you'll see... (unless you got some special kind of leds).

Actually, the ones I have DO light up brighter when you hit the brakes at night.

I made sure to get the 2 brightness level lights.
With the marker lights on, they light up red.
When you step on the brakes, these light up very bright.
I tested and made sure they worked like this before installing them. If they did not work like that, I would not be using them.
