Boiling water on my water reservoir

Hello experts:

I have a strange problem , I have a Deawoo Lanos 1999 car with 1.6 (DOHC) engine ..

When I run the car more than 1/2 hour and turn off the engine .. the radiator's water reservoir star to spill the water out of the reservoir. It is boiling water !!

The car temperature indicator never goes over the half level of the temp indicator..

What happend with my car ??

The car is not hot ... and the water is boiling on the reservoir !!!

The water pump is new !!!

The motor run like a charm !!

Please somebody help me ,, !!!

I also had an experience like this.

before, i was testing my temp gauge if its reading is still accurate.
i put a thermometer in the reservoir. monitored the temp and then the hot weater suddenly did overflow at around 90 deg (which i was expecting to happen at 100deg). although i don't know if my thermometer is correct

i think you should use a thermometer to test yours

could be your antifreeze/water mixture has too much water which would lower it's boiliing point. Get an antifreeze tester at a parts store and test it

you really should have antifreeze in there too. it acts as a lubricant for your water pump and it helps to prevent the water jackets in the block from rusting.

Yes!!

Not only is it called "antifreeze" it is also called "coolant" and has a higher 'boiling point' under pressure than plain water does.
Water boils quicker and could give you overheating problems some day.
Check your manual for specifications.. I use a 50/50 mix of distilled water and antifreeze/coolant. Flush and change it about every two years.

Clear, distilled water will not lubricate the water pump and will also shorten the life of the hoses.

P.S. Just in case this doesn't convince you?
A rusted/frozen water pump will give your engine the same results that a broken timing belt will.

a mechanic once told me that this coolant/antifreeze may in time form "chunks" or solidify and may accumulate and block the radiator lines (which i think would be very likely since the radiator lines of espero are horizontal ). can you guys shed light on this. thanks
