I need help

Post by YoYo845 »

I got a 2005 Chevy Aveo Hatchback Lt. Well I got a blown motor but it was fun to drive. I always drove it like I was racin it lol. Well I wanna keep it and change the motor. I want to know if the rumor is true you can put in a Suzuki Forenzo/Reno motor into one. If so how and what do I need. Also what are the best parts perfomance wise for the aveo. Thanks for the help people and I like the site.

well there aren't a lot of performance parts for the Aveo chassis (sway bars, brakes...)

as for the Forenza/Reno motor its true, same for the Leganza, Nubira, Rodeo, Amigo....DOHC's. you can also put a turbo SOHC from the Sunbird, Grand AM...

if you haven't yet check out this Aveo/Swift project with a turbo SOHC.

this is a big project and i get the feeling that you may not have done a swap before like this so it would need the help of a speed shop.

if you want to build a motor for a swap, SOHC or DOHC i have a black and parts for sale to do either.

as far as the turbo sunbird the came from 87-90, they came non-turbo from 87-94. the two blocks are the same for the most part (the turbo came with an oil return from the turbo the others didn't) if you look at the parts i have for sell, you could double the prices i have listed and likely not have everything you'd need.

if you noticed at the bottom of the classified add i have a 2.2 block, 'race' crank, low copression pistons and modded rods for also. you could base a really nice DOHC build on that or you could use most of those part with the SOCH parts to build a 2.2 SOHC for $2500+ shipping and EMU. NO ONE has a 2.2 SOHC.

i don't want to push you into a direction that you don't want to go into, you best bet would be to start pricing out stock motors from scrap yards. i also have a complete, stock Forenza 2.0 motor for $1200 and a completely stock Rodeo 2.2 for $1700+ shipping. i might also be able to get you the wiring and OE ECM from one or the other. just so you know, all the 2.0 and 2.2's, SOHC and DOHC are based on the same block.

as for the mount, you would need to use the OE mount from a Forenza/Reno.

no, with a DOHC the Forenza mount should be fine, if you do a SOHC you use the same mount but you have to grind a small amount for belt clearance. other than that it's a pretty straight forward swap.

be carefull what you buy, the ONLY manifolds available that will work are from Kinky Motorsports and Boshart Motorsports. also keep in mind that you will need to get low compression pistons because the stock 9.6:1 is TOO high and you will have detination issues. you can get them from Wiseco for about $600 shipped(4 month wait), you will also need Toga rods or Pauter rods and ARP bolts are a must. yo uwill also need an MLS head gasket which i sell for $100.

a detail shop should have you covered with the tar issue thats not really a big deal, spend about $100-$150 for a good one with buffing.

check out the topic in the 'special forums' section tiled Daft Art Engineering, that's were i have most of my parts listed as well as parts to come
