Non interference engine

Hi,
I remember reading here that one Daewoo engine is a non-interfering one. Can't remember which one. Any clue?

That was for helping a french friend having a 1.5 SOHC Lanos. He was afraid for his car that has always the original Tbelt after 7 years and only 15.000km!

that is not correct... some SOHCs are and some aren't

i remeber having this conversation with Tango long time ago and we got the answer after some research that the 8.5:1 compression ratio 1.5 SOHC found on racers is a non interference engine while 9.5:1 compression 1.5 SOHC engines found on lanoses are interference engines.

I agree.
Here in UK the 1.4 sohc & 1.6 dohc Lanos are both interference engines. It's the biggest killer of the Lanos engine when people don't replace the cambelt at the correct service interval. I see plenty sold on ebay for next to nothing with engine damage because the timing belt has snapped. Even with low mileage, after 7 years I would get it changed ASAP.
