well i didn't really read through this one but for the most part they are a gimmick.
they imply, without saying it, that fuel carries an amount of metal that will respond to the magnet and that's just not the case.
if a magnet would truly improve gas mileage then the manufacturers would be using them.

I saw one of these (different brand) at the Mid-America Motorworks shop in Effingham, IL, this past weekend. While the magnet does pic up metal deposit through your filter (saw it in a clear bottle), the chances of your fuel having metal in it would be slim to none. Go buy some magnetic tape from Wal-Mart and cover your fuel filter with it. Pretty much the same effect for $3 instead of $30...
