gas leak
i went out to my car this morning (already running from the remote start) and i noticed that i have a gas leak(i just filled up about 1 mile away last night). its comming from the area of the front drivers side of the gas tank, has any one els had any problems woth their tank leaking? im not sure if thats the problem or not, but i pulled the bottom of the back seat up, i opened the fuel pump access pannel, all was dry. so its either the tank has a leak or a cracked hose. any one ever had to drop the tank in a lanos? ive done other cars befor but not the woo, i hope its an easy fix (but they usually arent

Never removed a woo tank. It looks sturdy but I guess a Michigan gas tank could develop a rust hole.

I figure, by now you have been under it and checked the lines ?
If its a gas tank 'puncture', accessible and rust free ? You can DIY for about 5 dollars (usd)
I patched one in a Escort with gas-tank sealer epoxy (the kind that looks like wax, your break off a chunk and kneed the two pieces together) It worked ! and it is still working after about 8 years.
Good luck
and I hope you don't have to get a new tank.

Yeah, wish I had one. I do have my old engine but a complete car would be perfect. Been watching for a cheap one localy.daewoomofo wrote:well if the tank is shot, i have another one (gotta love having a parts car) no i havent been able to get under there and look at everything. ive been very busy trying to get my snakes new tank ready for him to move in, believe it or not (properly) setting up a tank for a snake is alot of work.
A little off subject but....Good to hear your a responsible pet owner. So many people are not. They like em when there little than forget em when they grow up.
We have seven dogs and five cats. (all are now fixed) and everyone of em was dumped here in the night by people that are losers.
I have seen people drop unwanted pets off, than take off fast with the dogs running after the car... sad.
They think they are doing the pet a favor ? NOT !.. they just make Coyote bait out of them. We rescue what we can and bury the dead ones when we find them.

yeah there was actually a local person some time ago that tried to dump their dog on the side of the freeway, i dont remember what happened with the dog, but i know that people that saw them dump it, called the cops and the per son got in ALOT of trouble, servers them right. i also dont agree with dog fighting or cock fighting, thats cruel to do to an animal. but yeah back on topic, the parts car is great, what do you need for your car, if i have extra i might sell ya it.
Thanks, good to know that. Gonna keep your offer in mind !daewoomofo wrote:........... the parts car is great, what do you need for your car, if i have extra i might sell ya it.

Actually ? at the present time I don't need anything for it.
living out here in this remote area I got plenty of room for a "parts car" out back.
Thats why I got my eye out for a local dead-engine but decent body "back-up" woo.
never know when ya might need a good used part, eh ?

Well,...It's good to know that you didn't blow your self up !
(I've seen sparks shooting out of old a/c drill motors)

P.S. How did you seal it up ?
(your answer may turn this thread into a; "How-To and Modifications"

P.S.S. Don't diss yourself too much mofo, I caught a nice 289 Ford engine on fire once.
It had a leaky carb and was running rough. So with gas all over the intake, I decided to check the points
(remember points ?) for 'a good spark' So, w/key on I slid a knife blade between the open gap.

Shock
(It took a couple of weeks for my eyebrows to grow back.)

well when i installed the stereo about 2-3 weeks ago i didnt notice a gas leak, but i have noticed a drop in gas mileage (since some of my gas was just leaking out and not feding the engine). i actually went to autozone and they have a repair kit for metal gas tanks/radiators. it was like $10 usd. it had a piece of sand paper, an alcohal swab, and a stick of 2 part epoxy. if i wasnt worried about it being special epoxy i could have done it for free since i have all of the stuff sitting in the garage at my moms. but all is good now, no gas leak and the car is running good.
