I like the track idea as well.... it would be fun to throw the cars around the track.

Hahah, I haven't even been on the track this year...or driven my car almost all year

Ohhhh that's a very intresting looking track. The straights 4k feet?! If my memory serves me right the first roadcourse I was ever on had a scary tight turn before a 1/2mile straight (isn't that like 2500ft?) and I was still hitting 90mph easy....now I'd probably be hitting 110 easy

I'd drive 8 hours to race a new track, esp with you guys. As long as my cars done by then, or at least pretty enough to be on a track (doesnt take much)

you know what would really set the future for our car? if we issued a challenge to non-factory backed/privateer Honda racers.

it could be a Daewoo vs. Honda event,we could do different classes and have a magazine feature that!

garrett
The mag would just make us look like idiot and the honda's look like gods. No magazine would put Daewoo Before honda lol.

sorry but no Honda's ever been in front of me!

if a mag were to come down and we spanked on the Honda's that showed up then i think it would be hard for the mag to put the Honda's lose in a positive light.

you guys need to have more confidence in your cars otherwise you might be better off in a Honda!

sorry to wreck the Sept. thing

You could allways leave the keys under the mat..... I swear we will clean up after ourselves

Congrats on the marrige... if she's still with you after all your automotive project work then she's probably a "keeper"

Hopefully a ring on the finger won't change that.... I've know a few guys to drop off the face of the earth after getting married.... and five years later they are both divorced.

the only reason i think that honduhs will win is they have soooo much after market support. we have to search for parts, or make them. with a civic you can just google it and you will have your pick of the litter. it would be great but i still think that just cause of its popualrity, honduh will come out on top. if we did win vs honduh, they would prolly just not print the story.

Yea i completley agree. The readers of magazines want to hear how honda's are soooo cool and if they see that a daewoo out preformed a honda it would probly just make alot of ppl mad lol.

I think getting individual daewoo stories would be easier...I've seen stories about geo's...you know the three speed storms with 90 hp...I've even seen stories about the old crappy chevy sprint turbo (albeit it was because of the gas mileage you could get with it). People enjoy reading about custom rides and nothing gets much more custom than a daewoo aside from building a car from scratch...I think we could definately get some coverage on the custom work that went into the cars and if we could show some decent performance it would be even easier.

The Astra MKII (AKA LANOS) has just as much aftermarket support as the Honda..... but there are two differences.

1) the parts are located in nearly every country except the USA and Canada
2) the parts are expensive (by our standards ) and its hard to find people to ship parts to North America

In the rest of the world the Astra is like the Civic .... cheap and easy to mod.

You have to remember.... everything is expensive in the UK.... basicly if you buy a sandwich for $5 here odds are they will pay 5 GBP for the same thing.... making their sandwich seem like it's twice as much money.

But..... they make similar wages to us.... so to them the cost is exactly the same as it is for you.

Of course they come over here and everything is "half price" and they have a great old time on vacation.

Having said all that.... usually the "cheap EBAY honda parts" you see on the internet are just that.... cheap EBAY parts.

If you really think an SSAUTOCHROME turbo kit is all you need to make a Civic go fast you are seriously mistaken.

Most Honda engines are open deck.... so that means spending a pile of money to have a machine shop fill in the holes with the correct supports and "deck" the block.

Even then the stock sleeves suck ass.... so a good engine mod company will move to something like a Darton Integrated sleeve where the sleeve actually closes off the top deck of the block.

Then once you've filled in the deck via a support or integrated sleeve system the damned engine will run super hot due to the fact that you've removed most of it's cooling capacity.

serious power requires replacement forged pistons and aftermarket connecting rods.... and there are a million other things that have to be done to make the engine worthy of 300whp.

sure there are some Honda engines that can make 300 hp with very little mods... but in most cases those engines blow within a few weeks or a few months due to lack of preparation.

When it comes right down to it the cost to set up a Honda engine is only about 10% cheaper than it is for a Lanos.

Many of you complain about the cost of tuning your cars..... but the fact remains that most tuners are dropping atleast $5K into their engine... and serious mod freaks can blow in excess of $60K.

I'm sure someone has an inbread half cousin that claims to have made a 500hp B16 with $500 but that's just a pile of bullsh*t..... power costs money.... no way around that.

sorry for my slightly off topic rant about Civics ..... I've owned many many Honda products... in fact... prior to the purchase of the Mazdaspeed 3.... I've allways had a honda/acura of some sort.

The fact remains that the Daewoo's are a highly underated vehicle and as of yet nobody with serious money in their pocket book has tried to modify a Daewoo product.
