i was at the local you-pull-it yard to say and i stumbled apon this
ths is the engine
is that a C20GET, or am i crazy? if so i might go get it, what problems should i check for before i get it (any known BIG problems) and should i get the ECU to go with it or is the stock ECU crap and not worth getting?

sorry, it's not a C20GET but the prototype if you will of what became the 2.0 ohc turbo motor this one is a 1.8 and i wouldn't recomend using it. if tom is aroud this weekend he can tell you more about it cause it's one of the motor types he looked into before his first C20GET.
the turbo should be the same, if it's in good shape you may want to pick it up if you're planning a build.
I agree with Garrett - this is the early style 1.8L OHC It is the less powerful variant, but at this point GM was simply 'experimenting'. I would stay away from it as parts are harder to find than for C20GET
ok thank you. i was thinking about getting it to make the red woo a drag car, but ill go with what you guys say, i dont want to get some bastard engine that i cant find parts for.

I was under the impression that some 1.8's use the same block as the 2.0 and 2.2...whereas the 1.4,1.5,1.6 engines are all small blocks I thought the 1.8,2.0,2.2 were the same big block with different crank/internals? In other words what I'm asking is would it be possible for daewoomofo to bore out the cylinders on the 1.8 and make them the same size as the 2.0 cylinders and put in the 2.0 crank/rods/pistons? I may be and probably am completely confused. I just thought that the 1.8 was to the 2.0/2.2 like the 1.5 is to the 1.6...if I'm wrong then can the 1.6 engines be made into 1.8 engines.
Or is the 1.8 in that car completely different than the line of daewoo/opel engines I'm thinking of.
if i was gonna do that id just get one of the 2.0 N/A engines that are VERY pleantifull at that same yard. the reason i was wondering about this one is that it from the factory has a forged crank, pistons and rods and all of the other goodies. if i bored and stroked this engine it would cost more than just getting a new one. but thank you for the idea.
