I suppose I could get the little things like induction kit, etc and then if I do have a crash, the car gets towed to my house and then I can replace the modded parts with the OEM parts, when the insurance guy comes to have a look at it, the car is stock...then when everything is mended, I can put the modded parts back on (this is assuming the modded parts are OK after the crash.
lol so you can swap your stock engine in for turbo before the insurance guy comes in. When he leaves, just swap the turbo in for stock. lol

shaun is selling a CAI/SHort ram intake... but i think shipping would kill you... try getting custom exhaust piping, and put a larger exhaust... since you have the 1.4... i really wouldn't go bigger than say 2.25"

Dude, at your age and with just starting driving, I'd leave the engine mods to a decent filter and a cat back exhaust. Concentrate instead on styling, wheels and suspension and brake upgrades. Then when your older and have got some accident free years under your belt and some NCB you can do something with the engine. That way the rest of the car is already modified to cope with the new engine.
Also, try getting quotes from some of the specialist car insurers at the back of Max Power, Fast Car and the likes. Adrain Flux can be quite good with modified cars.

Oh, one more thing, now is a good time to start buying tools. Get good quality ones too. It'll take a while to build up a decent set of tools (just buy a couple every week), but if you get good ones they'll last your lifetime and make modifying your car a lot easier.

lol... what good are tools when the most complex automotive thing you've done is removed a resonator lol.

lol @ knightwallace, haven't even done that yet, what does that actually, do...just make your car sound louder?

Stef...yeah, I suppose u r right, just went and bought the max power/haynes book on modding (very good)...got me excited, lol...think i will leave the engine, though...the best thing about the book is that I know what the author is talking about...most of the time, lol

removing a resonator allows for an easier air flow (making it a tinny bit faster) and also makes the car a bit louder.

Ractive or Tanabe Medallion type muffler... I've had both of them, both sound deep and throaty/rumbly.... I love 'em. Then remove resonator (in order to get that awesome sound).

And they're all universal by the way.

Yea, you can remove the Resonator, if there is one on the 1.4 for a throatier sound. However i don't know what the local laws are for sound.
