just take it out and take a cutter to it. the hardest thing is just putting the original shift knob in some hot water for bout five minutes to let the adhesive melt a bit so you can unscrew it. i think most ppl cut bout 3 inches off. to make sure where you want it just take off the shift boot and then sift gears and see how low you can go with it while in reverse sicne thats the longest throw next to 5th.

THIS IS A GUIDE TO WHAT I HAVE DONE AND WORKED WELL BUT I TAKE NO RESPONSEABILTY IF YOU STUFF IT TAKE YOUR TIME THIS NO NEED TO RUSH THIS MOD.
KNOW THE FUN PART,
Tools Required
1)Grinder or dremel to cut metal shaft and plastic lock out reverse
2)spare cable tie to do the gear boot
3)new gear knob or if you already have one also make sure when you buy a gear knob it has the big bottom on it and you can install 2 diffrent thread one small and one long as you will be using the short one you will see what i mean when you get to this stage.
4)superglue
5)spare ring or gearknob bottom to glue on the plastic reverse lockout as shown in the pic
Im more then happy to help you out now the way i did is take of the orignal gear knob ethier under hot water for 5 mins to melt the adhesive or cut it which i did once you have done all that lift of the gear boot and dont loose your spring the cut the cable tie on the gear boot holding on to the shaft plastic so your left with the whole shaft now i took the whole black part of right down to the white reverse lockout part then on top of the white reverse lockout i cut the flap bits of and sanded it level to look like a block then on top of that i super glued a spare bottom plate from a gear knob i did this method to use as the pulling up in reverse and also tie the cable tie to it also the side that goes to reverse i cut a bit of it also so do dont have to pull up as much ive included some pics of what i done and also the measuerment to where to cut the metal shaft as you dont want to cut to low then your screwed, the size you cut is 55mm from the wedge plastic on the shaft to the top of the metal shaft as illustrated on the photo,Also make sure you buy a gear knob that has the big bottom so the shaft can lift into it ive added the images of what i idid also remmeber the lockout part you cut before you cut anything lift to aquired lift and mark and cut. This is to make sure you have enough lift to the gear knob and reverse gear minamal play you dont want it that tight you might also have to cut the spring do a final check before you do.
And there you have it short shifter
let me know how you get on
